World's Most Terrifying Diseases

Marburg Fever

This viral hemorrhagic fever affects humans and primates alike. The Marburg virus causes a fatal fever that can kill a human being in just one week! Little wonder then as to why some rogue nations are working on Marburg virus-based biological weapons. Outbreaks of this incurable disease are common in Central Africa but there have also been a few isolated cases of the virus in parts of Europe and North America

 Cancer

Whether cancer can be treated largely depends on the type of cancer and the stage at which it is detected. Essentially, cancer is unregulated cell growth that causes malignant tumors. While there are several theories about the various causes of cancer, they have been disproven in several cases. For example, not all smokers contract lung cancer and not all lung cancer patients are smokers.

Chemotheraphy is one of the most widely-used treatments for cancer. But it is not 100% effective. Scientists are still trying to isolate the actual cause--and of course, find a cure--for this deadly disease.

Ebola

Ebola Virus Disease begins with a fever accompanied by chest pains and chills but it rapidly graduates to severe headaches, agitation, depression, fatigue and even coma. Death usually occurs in the second week after infection due to severe blood loss. Ebola is caused by one of these four viruses: Bundibugyo, Ebola, Sudan or Tai Forrest.

While this disease is most common in Africa, strains of it have been found in almost every continent around the world! Sadly, there's still no known cure for this grotesque disease

Flesh-Eating Bacteria

Flesh-eating bacteria aka Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is an infection that affects the fibrous tissue under the skin. It can destroy muscle, skin, and even the underlying tissue. This disease can be treated intravenously by administering antibiotics; however, it spreads quickly and often needs to be contained as soon as symptoms like changes in skin colour are evident. This disease is often seen among diabetics, alcoholics and frequent drug users.

However, NF is not restricted to such people alone and can just as easily be contracted through something as innocuous as an open wound

AIDS

We really hope you know all about AIDS and how its spread is prevented. Still, for the sake of being thorough, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is an incurable disease caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and it weakens the human immune system. HIV is transmitted through unprotected sex, blood transfusion, contaminated needles and can also be passed on from a mother to her child.

It is estimated that over 33 million people worldwide suffer from this deadly disease and in India alone HIV has affected a whopping two million people.
